Eagles News · Laferty Steps Down After 6 Years At The Helm

Sadly, Coach Shawn Laferty stepped down last week as the Head Baseball Coach here at Springstead High School. A post he held for 6 years, building an impressive record of 102-44, despite only playing 10 games this past season due to the pandemic. Under his leadership, our baseball program soared to new heights, winning the District title 3 times and making 4 playoff appearances including a trip to the Sweet 16. During his tenure, Springstead Baseball  produced next level talent such as Jack Jasiak, Jiovel Lantigua, Johnny Olivera, Kevin Thomas and Joey Delgato to name a few. Coach Laferty was also an assistant baseball coach for 5 years here prior to taking over the reigns as the head coach in 2015. He always ran a disciplined program that highlighted the best of what high school athletics have to offer. Academics, character, team and playing the game the right way were all pillars of his program during his time at the helm. We thank him for his time, sacrifice and dedication to Springstead HS and Springstead Baseball over his 11 years in Eagle Country. We would also like to thank his kids, who all went to SHS, and his wife for their time, sacrifice and dedication to SHS and Springstead Baseball. They often spent about as much time up at our baseball complex as Coach Laferty himself. Coach Laferty will be missed as a coach, colleague, and friend. He will forever be an EAGLE and is always welcome back to Eagle Country.
