Boys Varsity Cross Country, Girls Varsity Cross Country · Myers Steps Down, Officially Retired For A 2nd Time

Sadly, Coach Joel Myers has resigned as the Head Girls Cross Country Coach here at Springstead. Coach Myers has been coaching in some capacity here in Eagle Country for over 25 years and has accumulated over 40 years of coaching experience. He held the Head Girls Cross Country position for the last 4 years after briefly stepping away from the position when he retired as a teacher for the district. Coach Meyers has also held the Head Girls Track position here at Springstead, among others. He has earned the honor of Hernando County Coach of the Year in Track & Field and Cross Country, four times each!! Coach Myers also has 11 former student-athletes running at the collegiate level. His passion, knowledge and enthusiasm will be missed. Coach Myers has always be known to lend a helping hand to whichever athletics program needed it. He also has always had a knack for building strong relationships with all his runners, helping them on and off the track or course, some even after leaving The Nest. His cross country runners will miss his yearly summer “fruit runs” that is for sure. Coach Myers is forever an EAGLE and is always welcome back to Eagle Country.
